Yep. If you didn’t already know…
Patch 3.3- Fall of the Lich King drops TODAY.
Great! Now that all of your add- ons are borked, lets go ahead and discuss. Now, other blogs and websites have been talking about 3.3 for a while now- speculating, bitching, complaining about nerfs and changes. We didn’t do that here because, frankly, the human brain can only take so much bitching about the same subject. Let us, instead, focus on other aspects of 3.3.
Like the Lich King. I DEMAND SPECULATION. I thrive on it. So, lets speculate, shall we?
SPOILER ALERT. If you aren’t max level/ haven’t quested at all in Icecrown, do not continue unless you want stroyline spoilers.
1. We all saw what happened during the Wrathgate Incident- both the Horde and the Alliance lost valuable leaders. Saurfang the Younger, in his haste, lost his life to Arthas, Frostmourne claiming his soul. Bolvar Fordragon, who kept the Alliance stable while King Varian (Chinface) Wrynn was off cavorting with Valeera Sanguinar- I mean, off becoming the anti- Thrall- fighting in the gladiator pits, was poisoned by Grand Apothecary Putress, last seen breathing his last on the steps leading up to Angrathar. But are they really gone? Saurfang? Quite possibly- but I have my doubts. Fordragon? Oh, we’re gonna see his ass again- those of you who have seen all of Yogg-Saron’s visions, deep withing his prison of Ulduar, might know what has happened to our fallen hero of the Alliance. Those of you who have not- be prepared.
2. Airships, yo.
Ok, the Orgrim’s Hammer and the Skybreaker have been patrolling the skies over Icecrown for a year now. So far, the only thing either ship has had to offer is the opportunity to kill the opposite faction (yeah- I ain’t doing it, but I sure am making it difficult for people to kill me) and some cash via dailies (because who doesn’t love freeing mine slaves that just turn around and either jump into the pit or attack you? Ungrateful wretches…) But that can’t be it… can it? Oh no… not with all of those guns and shit. That big, horking cannon on the bow of the Orgrim’s Hammer HAS to do something cool! I DEMAND EXPLOSIONS.
3. Highlords Tirin Fordring and Darion Mograine- have been doing what, exactly? Ok, sure, there’s the Tournament of the Crusader (no trash is great, but a raid you can finish in 45 minutes? Come on, Blizz.) and there’s dailies to be done at Shadow Vault (anyone else having flashbacks of the Shadow Repository from Farscape?)- but that can’t be it. The leader of the Argent Crusade and Knights of the Ebon Blade do not just stand there and look pretty for you. What are they up to? All you Alliance who did the quest in Valgarde with the holy relic beneath the vrykul village- they said it was a sword for Tirion Fordring. Does this means he’s giving up the Ashbringer? (I’ll take it, if that’s the case…)
4. Quel’Danar- WHO WANTS IT? I’ll do it for the lore.
AND LAST… but not least…
Call it: REDEMPTION or DEATH? :flips a coin:
Enjoy 3.3, folks, and stay angry, healers!

Clarification from an Ally:
So, when you arrive at the Alliance port in Howling Fjord, you ride under a ship hanging from the cliffs and burning in an eternal fire, kinda like Stratholme. Later, you rescue this poor kid in the Utgarde Catacombs and he asks you to go recover this sword of light from the pits of the catacombs where the mindless zombies roam.
You later learn that this poor soul arrived on a ship that was boarded and destroyed when it reached Howling Fjord, leading him to be captured by Vrykul. As he was being dragged into the catacombs, he threw the sword of light down into the pit of mindless zombies so that the zombies who did have minds would not find it. That’s where you come in.
You run down, make the zombies run away screaming and recover the sword of light. You return it to the prisoner and he… dies.
*RAGE*
Ahem, anyway. With nothing left but some rusty old sword, you return to the Ally town and hand it over to some captain or other. He babbles for a bit until the robed wizard behind him tells him to shut up. And then you realize that the robed wizard is actually Tirion Fordring in disguise. He takes the rusty sword, which turns out to be Ashbringer in disguise.
And then it is explained to you that in order to protect Ashbringer and/or Tirion, the Argent Crusade decided not to put all their eggs in one basket. So, Tirion arrived on one ship while the Ashbringer was carried, by the now-dead messenger, on another ship. You have reunited them.
All that comes back to… yes, you are right, except the part where Tirion is giving up the sword. He’s not.
I am officially bummed I do not get a crack at the Ashbringer.
I need a friend’s *ASHBRINGER’D!* icon for this…
