Vezax Mana Effiecincy and Druid HoTs- An Attempt at Theorycrafting

Whoa, I said it. Theorycrafting.

Ok, so… on the General fight, there is NO MANA REGEN available to spellcasters- no MP5, no Spirit, no Intellect, no Innervate, nothing. Last night, however, it was discovered that if Lifbloom blooms, it will return the 50% of the spell’s mana cost. Last night, a fellow resto druid and I were ‘discussing’ it. I use the ‘ quotation marks’ because he was insisting it was still worth it, while I wasn’t. I told him I got more HPS from Rejuv than I did with Lifebloom. So, I decided to do some number crunching to back myself up.  Using unmodified numbers, here’s what I came up with:

One stack of Lifebloom is 762 mana. That means 3 stacks is 2286. Half of that is 1143. It heals 477 over 6 seconds and blooms for 970. This is of course modified by spellpower. But, using the baseline, we know that 3 stacks will tick for 1431 and bloom for 2910 (assuming crit usually doubles amount healed, it could average crit at 5820.) So I’m effectively paying 1143 mana for 4341 healing, if I don’t get a crit, 7251 if I do.

Rejuv heals for about 1200-1400 every 3 seconds for 18 seconds. Thats 7200 – 8400. Rejuv costs 321 mana.

So, if I do not get a Bloom crit, based on the baseline numbers, I’ll get approx. 3.5 Rejuvs for the same mana it would cost to get a stack of 3 Lifeblooms, and I’ll get between 1149- 2859 more heals from Rejuv than I would get from even a crit Lifebloom. I have come to the conclusing that I get SIGNIFICANTLY more HPM with Rejuv than I do with Lifebloom, which I think is more than enough to state that rolling and blooming Lifebloom on the tanks during General Vezax is not nearly as mana efficient as rolling Rejuv.

Thank you.

I generally Rejuv on Vezax, and save my Lifeblooms for clearcasting procs (I stand under Vezax and melee swing to proc more often). On our first kill, I only had to use a single vapor and my healing output was rather fantastic, and I was capable of spamming Nourish and Swiftmend during the Surge of Darkness with minimal impact on my mana b/c the hots were so cheap (ie generally free) to keep up.

I agree with your argument against stacking LB up to three – not a good idea. But I do cast it on every clear casting proc (go go power auras!) because you basically just got a free rejuv AND a free lifebloom. Just one, just on the proc – and the mana back is a pure GAIN. If you get 10 OOC procs, you’re gaining 3320 mana, plus getting 10 free heals. It’s ridiculously good.
